Whiny babies, no sleep and ooohhhh the guilt!!!!

I know that all I have done the last week is complain about my kids and their sickness and the rain but I can now stop. We had the worst night of sleep EVER on Monday night (I got 2 hours total). Both kids were up at different times and crying like they were dying. At about 2:30 am Trevor tells me that his ear hurts (after crying for 2 hours). I'm thinking to myself, "Oh my gosh, he has an ear infection" and feeling so bad for having no sympathy for him. I go to work on Tuesday morning and call our doctor at 8am, get an appointment for 8:50, convince Don to take both of them (because he is home with both of them on Tuesdays) and what do you know....they both have an ear infection. He gets amoxycilin (spelling) in both of them by 10, I get home around 3 and they both are completely different kids by that evening. Neither of my kids have EVER had an ear infection so that didn't even cross my mind. After Trevor was telling me his ear hurt, I'm thinking to myself... How did I not see this? My kids are never sick for 10 days straight. Needless to say I felt completely guilty. I never even thought of an ear infection and had lost all of my patience for the last week.

Everyone is feeling great now. Both kids are back at school/daycare and are happy not to be couped up inside. We have a busy weekend so lets hope that we can stay healthy and happy.

Rainy Days

I remember (before I had kids) how much I used to love a rainy day. I would rent a bunch of movies, lay on the couch, drink hot chocolate and watch/sleep through the movies. Now that I have kids rainy days are a nightmare. You can only keep your kids entertained inside for so long. We try to go do things but even getting to the car in the rain is a pain. Both of the kids are sleeping now and have been for over 2 hours and I have been online shopping way too long, Don is going to kill me. These are the things you have to do in the rain.....that is what I will blame it on!

We Survived..I mean I survived

The day definitely got better from my last post. I couldn't handle being couped up all day so I took the kids to the mall to play on the inside toy thingy after TT woke up this morning. Trevor had a great time but was over it after about 20 minutes and wanted to go to a "real park". Unfortunately all of those were cold and too wet so I had to bribe him with some M & M's. Taylor played for a few minutes but never really got into it (probably because she still doesn't feel great). I was one of those parents that I'm sure you all hate (me too) that brings their kids out in public with a runny nose and a cough. I tried to tell myself that EVERY KID has a runny nose this time of year, but I know how I feel when my kids are healthy and are around sick kids. So sorry to all of you but I was seriously going stir crazy!!!! The best part of the day.....both kids slept for 2 hours at the same time so I actually got to take a GOOD shower,(all of you mom's know what I am talking about, where you don't have kids watching you). Both are asleep now and I am close behind, let's hope for a better day tomorrow!!! Yes, Don is a work so that is why I am talking to anyone who wants to listen!!

Is it really only 9:00am??????

Ok, I only have a couple of minutes, but I just looked at the clock and thought I had to have seen a mistake, it said 9:10. Do you want to know what I have done in the last 3 hours? Both kids woke up at 6 (no big deal, that is a decent time for my kids). Taylor was only awake for about an hour and a half and has been sleeping ever since, that is because she was up most of the night with this horrible cough. I tried to feed them both breakfast, Trevor had about 5 bites of his pancake, TT wouldn't eat any. I held TT in my lap the whole time she was awake that is while I am trying to play with Trevor because he too wants my full attention. We have watched Letter Factory, Charlottes Web, Little Einsteins and Barney (I did sneak in about 10 minutes of GMA to see the weather report). I have played in the Spiderman tent, pitched about 50 balls to Trevor, played on the Leapfrog computer, played cars, read about 10 books, drew every animal you can think of, and played marching band!! It is still raining outside, what am I going to do all day, I don't know if I can keep this up???????????

Sick kids + Rainy days = NO FUN!!!!!

Both kids are sick. Trevor started by throwing up on Saturday (in bed) and has been completely out of it ever since. Taylor threw up twice on Monday and seemed to be fine the last couple of days. Two days in a row now I got the dreaded phone call at work..........your child is sick, can you please come pick him/her up? That is so embarrassing! Poor Don has been off all week and dealing with these whiny whiny kids all day watching nothing but baby TV and breaking up fights between the two. He has been a trooper! I'm going to take tomorrow off so hopefully after 3 more days of being at home we can start fresh next week.

Don's new schedule is horrible.

I'm sitting at home for the second night in a row with both kids asleep at 8:00. I know that sounds great to some of you and if my husband was home that would be great for me too, but unfortunately he started his new schedule and works all night and sleeps all day. It works great for babysitting but sucks for our weekend time together. He is super busy at work and rarely makes it home on time and me and the kids miss him terribly!!! His weekend starts tomorrow so hopefully we can do something fun and he can get some decent sleep. I keep telling myself that it is better he has this schedule now, before our kids are in sports, but for some reason it doesn't seem to make me miss him any less. Thank goodness for family and friends, I don't know what I would do without them!!

Basketball fun.......I guess

TT sitting with the cheerleaders........oh no!!!
Not only did she sit with them, she stole their pom poms and started waving them around.

This is what she did when I took the pom poms away. She threw herself on the ground and started crying, soooooo TYPICAL. Definitely the problem child.

Trevor and TT watching the cheerleaders, I like to think Trevor was watching the game......but it was a timeout.

Another typical TT move. She threw a fit until I gave her 2 forks, I guess one is not enough.
Don started his new schedule tonight (working 6pm to 6am Fri, Sat and Sun) so I decided to take the kids to a Mayfair basketball game. Trevor loves going to games and they made a new rule that we couldn't bring him to football games so I thought he would enjoy basketball. He loves to sit and watch the game, listen to the band and especially watch the cheerleaders perform. He was perfect and had a fabulous time. Our time was cut short and I'm sure you all know why.......her name is Taylor and she is naughty. She started off stealing the show, she sat down with the cheerleaders and was in heaven. Unfortunately I had to move her because the cheerleaders were trying to perform and she was stealing all the pom poms and dropping them on the court...real cute!!!! When I had to grab her to leave she did a typical TT move where she thrown herself on the ground, kicks her feet and screams at the top of her lungs. I again pick her up then she decides to hit me in the face. I really wanted to slap her across the face, but I didn't think that was a good idea with a gym full of people watching. She is sleeping now and I am having a glass of wine.........so all is good!!!

Date Night/Nap TIme

So tonight Don and I got to go on a date. It was so nice to be able to do that in the middle of the week. He is now working weekends so our time together is very limited (and consumed with babies). Auntie Kelly came over to babysit so we decided to go to dinner and see a movie. We went to TGIFridays and had a quick dinner because our movie was at 6:15. I stayed awake for about the first 30 minutes and just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I have always had this problem. I thought this was an early enough showing but my tiredness took over. Don said the movie (Charlie Wilson's War) was good.

What a gorgeous Sunday....

Trevor and TT on the way back to the car (notice the cheeze faces, you do what you gotta do to get your kids back in the car)
Trevor on the swings (his first time on the big boy swings). He started off saying how scared he was but by the end of the day I couldn't get him off of them.

I had to throw this in. This is a picture of TT on the way to the park doing a double pick.

Today was such a beautiful day in Southern California. It was 75 degrees and so clear that at the beach this morning we could see Catalina as clear as ever and also see a bunch of snow in the mountains, all at the same time. I felt that we had to get out of the house because of the beautiful weather so we went down to Seal Beach with Jeana, Ruby and Abby. The kids played on the playground while Jeana and I observed from the side. I finally feel like I can go to the park and it is not just a chore. Taylor is finally able to run around and behave herself (a first for her). It was a beautiful day and the best part is that the kids came home and slept for a couple of hours!!!!

It's contagious.....

Papa playing guitar hero

You all know that we bought the Wii last week. I promise that we don't play it all the time but it really is alot of fun. Last night we had my parents over for some tacos and even my dad liked it. He did get a little frustrated, but he played many games of guitar hero and I think he will definitely come back for more.

Disneyland

The three stooges (Ruby, Brady and Trevor) sitting in line at the rockets.
Trevor and I in A Bugs Life at California Adventure

Trevor and Auntie Kelly

Angie and Brady on A Bugs Life ride.

Jeana and Ruby on the rockets (Ruby's first trip to Disneyland)
Yesterday we took the older kids to Disneyland and had a blast. We left the younger babies at home with their dads so that we could actually enjoy ourselves. We started in California Adventure and went on all the rides in A Bugs Life, which was great because there were no lines. It closed at 6 so we then made our way over to Disneyland. It was Ruby's first trip and I think she can hardly wait to go back. We only went on a few rides because it was getting late and I was exhausted from being back to work. Disney passes are the best, you can go for a few hours and not feel guilty.

This is a picture of Trevor sitting next to his daddy watching him play his new Wii. I know, I know probably not a great idea but we don't do it all the time. I thought that this was too cute to pass up.

Back to work!!!! Booooooo!!!!

Making cookies at Ruby and Abby's house.

Today was my first day back to work after being off for a couple of weeks for Christmas Break. I thought Taylor would be devastated because I pretty much just held her 10 hours a day while I was off. She surprised us all and adjusted just fine. Trevor always adjusts well so he of course was perfectly fine. They have been couped up so much the last few days because of the rain so he was so happy this afternoon when he was able to go outside and play soccer (his favorite sport, he is very good by the way).
I bought the Wii for Don (and Trevor) last week so we spent alot of our weekend playing guitar hero. It is so fun and so addicting, and I have never been a video game person. I know it sounds crazy for 33 year old parents to be playing video games but I finally understand what the whole Wii craze was all about. I thought that it would be a good present for Trevor to play someday, I mean if he is playing video games you want the ones that they are actually moving around to play, right??? That is what I tell myself to justify it.

Having one child

It is amazing what you can get done when you only have one child all day. Trevor's pre-school was open this week Wed-Fri. I asked him Wednesday and Thursday mornings if he wanted to go to school and he was so excited and said yes. He kept talking about all of his friends and teachers so I went ahead and took him. I did feel extremely guilty because I am still off of work but he wanted to go and he hadn't been in almost two weeks and frankly I wanted a little break. So for two days now it has been just me and TT. I went to Costco, Target, Best Buy, dry cleaners, for two jogs and have almost finished a book!!!! AMAZING, I totally forgot what it was like!!! You think I can send him on Saturday and Sunday when I go back to work????? J/K

You know you officially have no life when.....

you spend your New Year's Eve at a party at the Elk's Lodge where the average age was 70!!!
Luckily, our family was there and we ended up having a blast.

Don had to work so my dad was my kiss at midnight!

Yes, it is true....we really did go to the Elks Lodge for New Years. Don had to work so I was pretty bummed and didn't want to sit at home by myself. My kids go to bed at 7:30 so I knew that there was no way they would be able to stay awake with me, so I hired the neighbor. I waited until they went to bed and so they never even knew I was gone. My whole family was there (minus grams and Don) so we definitely made the most of it. Jeana and Anthony joined us also and the look on her face was priceless when she walked in. That is, until she went to the bar and ordered 3 drinks that totaled $9.00!!!! So, we decided to stay even though there was no karaoke (the cheap drinks made it all worth it). The best part was at 11:00 pm they have this ritual that they honor the old members who pass away. What an experience that was. Thanks to Dave I felt like I was in elementary school, you know when there is nothing you can do to control your laughter???? What a night!!!
Of course my kids did not cooperate...I went to bed at 1:00 am and TT thought it would be nice to wish me a Happy New Year at 5:20, isn't that sweet??
