I cannot remember a more stressful, horrible week than this last week. It all started when Trevor came home from school LAST Friday. His teacher thought he might have pink eye. No big deal, he has had it before and we have the medicine which works extremely fast. Later that night I thought he felt a little warm but no big deal, he had a busy day at school and playing with friends. We powered through the weekend with not much energy but he still had many moments where he seemed just fine. His fever would come and go but not affect him too much. He did not eat much at all, if anything all weekend.
Now it is Monday morning and Don's mom watches the kids while I am at work and he is sleeping during the day. Trevor wakes up super early and is burning up so I give him some Motrin for the fever, which he throws up. At this point I'm not sure if he is really throwing up or just gagging from the medicine (did I mention that all of the sudden it is a huge battle to get him to take medicine which is normally no problem at all). Marilyn (Don's mom) was planning on taking the kids to Disneyland that day because it is our niece's birthday. Obviously Trevor can't go so I called in sick and stayed home.
Now it is Tuesday morning and
Don is off work and has the kids on Tuesdays. Trevor wakes up at 5 am again burning up and is so hot and talking nonsense, we are scared at this point. I also forgot to mention that I woke Don up on Monday afternoon so that I could take Trevor to the doctors. Doctor says there is a virus going around and he'll probably have it for a few more days, if longer to call again. Back to Tuesday morning...we give him medicine and after a little while he cools off and is somewhat back to himself, minus the energy. Trevor has still not eaten at this point, he is on a
motrin/
tylenol every 3 hours diet (although drinking many fluids).
It is now Wednesday and I had
previously scheduled to take work off to watch Jeana's kids for her. The original plan was that Trevor would be at school and Don and I would watch all of the girls at our house. That obviously wasn't going to happen because Trevor was sick and so was Ruby (probably from Trevor). So....I went over to Jeana's house to watch her kids while Don stayed home with ours. Trevor is still not eating and the only time he
doesn't have a fever is the first couple hours after medicine. I decide to take him with me to run a couple errands in the afternoon but have to rush home because he is shaking and scaring me again with an
extremely high fever. Late that night (around 8 pm) he gets this burst of energy and is playing baseball in the house (of course) and is dripping sweat. At about
midnight, Don went in to check on his fever (we had
previously woken him up to give him medicine) and said he was clammy but not hot so we were thinking that he may be breaking his fever. YEAH!!!
This morning when Trevor woke up he was not hot and he actually ate food all day. He had not eaten since last Friday at lunch!!! He has had his normal happy demeanor all day and no fever! It has turned into a little head cold but we can handle that any day.
Did I mention that this couldn't have happened in a worse week? My babysitter for Taylor (who is still perfectly healthy) is gone all week at her daughters wedding(the same wedding Kelly is in) and we are testing at work so it is not like I an just call in sick. Also, Kelly is in Oregon. My mom is staying home with
TT tomorrow and Trev will be back at school. We will see how it goes. I am so emotionally, mentally and physically drained. I cannot remember a time where I was more scared for a sick child ( I guess that means we are just lucky). I just pray that this weekend is filled with healthy kids, healthy parents and lots of sleep. Don has been such a trooper. He has been home with these sick, crying, whining babies for the last 3 days AND he had to go to work tonight. Lets home for a calm, no crime night in
Laguna Hills because there will be one tired and worn out deputy.
