Picking battles

I literally sat there and watched her take every single piece of tuperware out of the cupboard.

It was one of those days. I have to choose the battles that I want to pick with both kids because I would literally be fighting them all day long. Taylor loves to take everything out of this cabinet and most of the time I don't let her but there are days that I just don't feel like fighting her about it. Trevor has had 2 bad days at school in a row and I'm so upset about it I want to cry. Yesterday he got his first time out for not getting off of a chair that his teacher asked him to get off 3 times and today she said he didn't listen to her most of the day. That is not like him. He may not behave at home but he is usually great at school. Now I am so distraught over it and not knowing what to do. I threatened him with a spanking but does that really work 3 hours later after he gets picked up??? Lets just hope he behaves tomorrow or it is going to be a looooong weekend.

I wish I had some good advise for you! Im sure he'll have much more good days than bad. Spankings don't work for Kade either - he is almost at the point of lauging at me... in fact he has a few times. Good luck, don't let it get you down - don't forget he's only 3 yrs old... he can't communicate all of his frustrations yet. Cheryl swears that 3 is worse than 2 for boys! I'll kill myself.

I am sure he will be fine. He's probably just testing his teacher to see what she will do- testing her limits. BTW why don't you put baby locks on your cupboards??

Kim,

you are correct, spanking a 3 year old, 3 hours later will mean nothing to him. Baby locks are great, but remember they love to play in the cupboards and to have one that they can play in is not a bad thing. And if the worst thing that Trevor says is poopoo head to his friends you will be lucky. He is 3, 3's are hard he is just testing. All 100% normal. I am going through the same thing with Ethan at 13. Love you, the poop picture gross!

I have the same Tupperware cupboard. I hate to pick everything up, but it keeps Abby busy for enough time that it's worth it. Remember that your Tupperware cupboard was the first thing Ruby would go for??? For Trevor, that is sooo normal. It's hard to hear anything negative because we feel like it's a reflection of us. Trevor is a great kid and your a great mom!
